Refund Policy

Refunds of the School fee will be provided for withdrawals received up until 30 May 2024.

Application process

STEP 1

Application Form

It is expected that all participants will be proficient in calculus, linear algebra, statistics, and probability at an advanced (e.g., 2nd/3rd year) undergraduate level. Preferably, participants will also have some experience with stochastic processes (e.g., Markov chains) and/or optimisation theory. Applicants should address their level of knowledge and preparedness in the application.

  • Takes approx. 10-15 minutes to complete
  • You will be asked for your Participant Talk title
  • Students need to supply
    • the contact details of a Referee, who is able to comment on the applicant’s research and/or academic experience, and their suitability to the program.
    • a formal letter of support from a current supervisor, honours coordinator or head of school/department, vouching for the applicant’s capabilities and suitability to attend this program, as well as the benefit of attending the school from an academic standpoint. If applying for an AMSI grant, the letter should also support your request for financial assistance and include what funding is being provided by the home university. It need only be brief (100-200 words) and submitted on university letterhead or contain your supervisor’s formal email signature.

STEP 2

Payment

Upon submission of the application form, you will be redirected to the University of Queensland payment gateway to pay your application fee using a credit or debit card.

Note: Applications will not be considered until both steps have been completed. If you application is unsuccessful a full refund of the Application Fees will be provided.

STEP 3

Acceptance

Acceptance into AMSI Winter School 2024 is at the discretion of the Event Director. Applicants will be notified via email the outcome of their application within two weeks of applications closing.

Successful applicants must confirm their acceptance of an offer, following the instructions provided in the notification email by the due date.

Are you eligible for an AMSI Winter School Grant?

AMSI travel grants are available to assist students from AMSI Member Institutions with the cost of travel/accommodation to attend the school. Female, First Nations and regional, rural and remote students are encouraged to apply.
